Prioritising psychosocial safety in your workplace

The Emergence Group was developed after Director, Alana Singleton transitioned from an eighteen year career in criminal investigations as a NSW Police Officer in 2018.

During her time as a Police Officer Alana worked in corporate policy and auditing for the NSW Police State Crime Command. Alana also spent time in complaint management and integrity with UNSW.

After her transition from the NSW Police and UNSW Alana Co-Founded, Emerge & See, and Australian registered charity that supports the mental health of NSW and ACT Emergency Service workers.

Since 2021, Alana has collaborated with numerous corporate organisations and businesses, discovering common challenges in meeting the evolving needs of their people and complying with legislative requirements regarding psychosocial risks and hazards.

The Emergence Group was established in response to the realisation that complex human issues cannot be effectively addressed through standard corporate solutions. This led to the development of a new strategy aimed at redefining workplace well-being

Many existing services often tackle only fragments of workplace issues, focusing on assessment or education without providing comprehensive solutions tailored to the specific context of the organisation. This can lead to inconsistency and frustration among both leadership and staff, as the root causes of challenges remain unaddressed.

By offering a holistic approach that includes thorough analysis, understanding of workplace culture, and targeted solutions, we can create a more cohesive strategy that aligns with your organisation’s unique needs. This not only improves employee well-being but also fosters a consistent and supportive environment.

The Emergence Group offers comprehensive solutions tailored to the unique needs of your workplace. Our services are fully integrated, ensuring seamless communication and delivery eliminating service gaps.

The Emergence Group is a profit-for-purpose business, donating 10% of all profits to Emerge & See, an organisation that supports NSW and ACT Emergency Service workers. By partnering with us, you also contribute to honouring the sacrifices made by these workers in service to their communities.

Our Approach

Stage 1 A deep dive into your unique workplace allows us to thoroughly understand the specific challenges and risks you face. By reviewing existing policies and procedures alongside comprehensive workplace data analysis, we can identify risks and issues that may be impacting your employees and workplace. This thorough approach helps us develop targeted strategies, policies and procedures that address workplace psychosocial risks.

Stage 2 Understanding people perceptions and risks are vital. By integrating insights from interviews, surveys, and monitoring, we gain a well-rounded view of the organisational culture, employee engagement and satisfaction, and leadership effectiveness.

Stage 3 Based on your workplace analysis and risk assessments, we develop comprehensive and bespoke policies tailored to address your specific needs. These policies not only mitigate risks but also align with your organisational goals and culture. By focusing on the unique aspects of your workplace, we ensure that the solutions are practical, effective, and sustainable.

Stage 4 Providing training and education on your unique psychosocial risks and safety is crucial for creating a supportive workplace environment. By raising awareness and fostering a culture of respect, you empower employees to recognise and address stressors proactively. This training can equip them with valuable skills for leadership, managing stress, enhancing resilience, and promoting mental well-being. Additionally, a well-informed, empowered workforce contributes to overall productivity and job satisfaction.

Stage 5 Mindfulness-based interventions can effectively address various clinical and subclinical issues, including stress, chronic pain, anxiety, and recurrent depression. With strong evidence supporting the positive effects of well-being practices like yoga on stress management and burnout prevention, we aim to provide your staff with regular mindfulness, well-being and reward based activities.

Stage 6 To overcome workplace stigma, we offer independent and confidential well-being checks through face-to-face consultations, ensuring that employees feel safe and supported. Regular well-being assessments help identify any challenges and provide tailored support. Additionally, our well-being assistance line gives your staff access to phone consultations with a diverse range of counsellors, along with opportunities for clinical psychology sessions.

Stage 7 By providing your workplace with insights into current and emerging trends through regular data collection, collation, and analysis, we ensure that our recommendations are both timely and relevant. This continuous feedback loop allows us to identify areas for improvement in workplace systems, policies, and procedures. Regularly assessing trends not only helps in adapting to changes in employee needs and industry standards but also enhances overall organisational effectiveness
